I got the single speed bug in 2007. My first move was to convert my Serotta Rapid Tour
to single speed. After determining that I liked the SS philosophy, I bought the Quickbeam -- a purpose-made singlespeed. It's a beautiful bike, rides great, takes all the racks I want to put on it, and is basically a perfect commuter and trail bike. The Quickbeam is now my go-to bike. I ride it 80% of the time, and love it dearly. My only disappointment has been the quality of the headset and bottom bracket. I should have upgraded on purchase.
