Did a 40-miler in the foothills with Brian and the Denver Bicyle Touring Club. We actually didn't see much of the club, since our average riding speed was faster than that of most of the club members. We went out Deer Creek Canyon Road to "High Grade" road (means "steep", not "good quality"), and on up into Conifer. Brian and I took a shortcut to return, via 73 and Turkey Creek Road. The ride involved a total of around 2500-3000ft. of climbing (most of it on the front-end), and I was pretty tired by the time we finished.

I guess I should mention that the rest of the DBTC went on to Evergreen, which made for a much longer ride for them.

Great hacker's site.

I've had my Trek 5200 for 26 days now. It has 400 miles as of this morning when I got to work. Lessee, that's an average of 18 miles per day. Pretty good, I think. Given my average-average speed of around 17mph or so, that's about 23.5 hours of riding. Based on the Cycling FAQ I'd burn about 883 calories per hour of riding, for a grand total of 20,750 calories burned on my new bike, which represents nearly six pounds of fat.

Now, why haven't I lost six pounds?

Time on Ride: about 2:30, 2 hrs climbing, and 30 minutes descending.
Top Speed: 43mph
